the definition of a bad idea

From the Daily Mail's article on Agnetha from Abba:

"Her last relationship was with Dutch forklift driver Gert van der Graf, who had stalked her with cards and letters for 20 years before romance finally blossomed.

After they split in 1999, he hounded her until she sought a restraining order on him."

Honestly - how could she ever have guessed he was the obsessive type?

Anyway, more later - I'm back from my weekend of rural seclusion, and raring to blog... but there is a rather large fire in Hertfordshire which is demanding my attention.

There was a woman called Gert in the dementia ward that my grandmother was in before she died. This Gert had been in the old folks hospital since she was 14. She was an orphan and at the time she needed it there were no orphanage places. When I knew her she must have been in her fifties.

Nothing to do with your post, just something that popped into my mind.

Are you repsonsible for the fear-mongering headlines about toxic black poisonous clouds of death, destruction and doom that your institution has been regaling us with? I enjoyed those very much.

i particularly liked the Standard's "TOXIC CLOUD TO HIT TONIGHT" - aside from a minor quibble over whether and essentially nebulous cloud can "hit" anything.

sadly, i didn't notice we had all been choked to death in our beds when i woke up this morning.

although the whole story must have cast a bit a (ahem) cloud over the launch of Paul McCartney's children's book, "High in the Clouds".

I've just been reading an article about toxic killer whales. (poisoned by Arctic pollution.) You'd be able to do something with that, surely? STOP THESE SEAWORLD MONSTERS, SHAMU FAILS TO RATIFY KYOTO PROTOCOL, etc etc. What's thee up to this weekend? I am in London once again....
